Web site update

I just updated my web site with some cool vinyl records and CD's for trade or sale (mostly duplicate and/or unwanted items from my own collection). My "Wants" list is also on there. Check out www.rockmusiccollector.com please and have a great day!

Why on earth would I possibly want to write a blog?

Perhaps because I have nothing better to do? Well, that's not quite true of course. I don't really fully know myself why but it seems like a good idea at the time.

Anyway, what I will attempt to do is to write a series of articles that deal with collecting certain (popular music) artists, labels, and genres. My favorite magazine always has been UK's Record Collector magazine, so it will be along similar lines, lots of useless information for the common man and woman but possibly some nuggets of good information for my fellow Vinyl (record) and CD collectors worldwide.

I'm 54 years old (as of Jan 2007) and have collected records (and later CD's) since the early 1970's. My first-ever record that I purchased was HELP! (German picture sleeve 45) by the Beatles in 1965, followed by over 12,000 more vinyl records as the years went by. When CD's came out in 1985 I immediately jumped on the bandwagon and now have a similar number of CD's from all over the world. You could call me obsessive in my collecting habits. If I really like an artist then it is very likely that I'll buy everything he/she/they ever did. Sometimes even duplicate items if the picture sleeve single from Japan or France is something I simply gotta have. Oh yes, I also collect bootlegs (silver only, NEVER CDR's) even though I really don't appreciate the artists getting ripped off. Come to think of it, many artists have profited from bootlegs in a big way, as people like me will buy every official artist release once they are "turned on" by the bootlegs.

Now let's see when I find some time to post the first blog....

Come back soon!
